How do you Feel about Facebook Tracking your Google Searches?

Have you noticed recently that your searches on Google and other search engines are now showing up on Facebook as advertisements? Give it a try. Perform a simple search on Google and then refresh your Facebook profile. You will notice that, along the right side of the page, ads for items that you just searched for are present. Some are considering this to be a stalking feature. Facebook concludes that it is their way to make their advertisements more relevant to each user. I’m not so sure that I am comfortable with that.

How does this make you feel?

To me, it makes me feel like my personal interests are no longer my personal interests. Granted no one else is going to see what the advertisements on my page are, it still makes me feel a bit uneasy. I would absolutely love it if you shared your thoughts on this matter. Feedback received here can be shared with Facebook as panel surveys are sent out. It will help impact how we use Facebook and what changes they make.

What is social media coming to these days?

Another thing that has been bothering me with this social media website is that if  you like a post, there are supposed related pages to like that come up underneath it. Sometimes, these “related pages” are far from appropriate. Some are very adult in nature. For teens and younger people using a social media outlet such as Facebook, this is just not appropriate. If we want to like or connect with a company or theme, we can simply search for it. If Facebook took this feature away, less young people would be offended by some of the images that will be displayed after liking a post or news story. I am an adult and find some of the suggestions to be inappropriate and in poor taste.

Super Impressed with Sverve and!

So many times we see advertisements for loadable debit cards to make our lives simpler. For some of us, a traditional bank account is just not an option. I came across an opportunity to get a personalized debit card that is easy to load and offers the ability for employers to direct deposit payroll onto. It is similar to other types, such as the Walmart Moneycard and BlueBird card. You might ask, what’s different about CARD? I’ll get to that in a little bit.

Getting a Card

It’s so easy to get a debit card of your own from Simply visit the website and sign up. Next you’ll just have to select the card design that you want. There are hundreds to choose from, literally! So, let your personality or personal interest shine through. Fill in a bit of personal information and finish the sign-up process. Your card arrives in the mail in just a few days.

You might figure that the card will just arrive in a plain old white envelope like any other credit or debit card. Well, you’re right in one respect, it is a plain white envelope but it looks like a greeting card, not just any old letter. I LOVE this about! No one will think to steal this piece of mail and try to activate it on their own. The paper stock used to send the card is even the thickness of a greeting card. This is a great safety feature to have for this product.

Activation is simple, just call in or go online. It takes literally one minute to activate the card. You can choose to either load it right away or send in the information to your employer for direct deposit. There is a card included for you to present to your employer for direct deposit that includes all of the information they need.

What is so Great about

Here’s what you want to know. The fees, yes there is a $5.95 monthly fee assessed to the account. BUT, if you have $800 or more deposited onto the card each month, that fee does not exist. Through The Bancorp Bank your funds are insured, FDIC insured. Another plus is the Visa Zero Liability policy that protects you from unauthorized purchases. These safety measures ensure that your funds are protected at all times.

How do I Load the Card?

There are 4 convenient ways to load your new prepaid Visa debit card. You can link your PayPal account as one of the easiest ways. The other options are Western Union, Green Dot or via direct deposit from your employer. It’s fast, and quite easy. Manage your account online so that you always know how much money you have available. Have questions? Their customer service is great! The representative I spoke briefly with was very helpful. You can call or email for assistance.

This is my ACTUAL Pink Hell’s Kitchen CARD

There are only two negatives that I have noticed so far, and they aren’t even that big of a deal. One is that you cannot schedule payments to be automatically debited. The other is that there are fees associated with using a Green Dot or Western Union load option. Other than these, there are no other negatives.

This card is so convenient. Instead of using Western Union or Green Dot, I am opting to link mine to my PayPal account where most of my funds are deposited. I’m more than satisfied with the process so far and couldn’t be happier that I decided to go ahead and get a prepaid Visa debit card with! Look for updates from me right here as I continue to use this card and participate in other campaigns at #Sverve! Follow CARD on Facebook and on Twitter @CARD. See what some of us are so excited about!

My MK Glam Impression

At first, I was skeptical about Mary Kay cosmetics due to their price and the fact that I have had reactions to some of their products in the past. I was happy to receive the invitation from Influenster to give them a try since I do know that many improvements have been made to their products over the years. I was also surprised to see that full-size products were sent. I was really only expecting to receive sample sizes.

When my VoxBox arrived I opened it to see that the cream eye shadow is in my favorite color… Purple! It went on nice and smooth. It did not leave my eyes feeling like makeup was caked on or heavy. Keep in mind that I rarely wear makeup because I work from home and don’t have any daily impressions to make. This is a product that I will use until it’s gone. I also like that the color is not too dark and has some shimmer to it. With my hazel eyes, it brightened them up a lot. I wasn’t real sure what to do with the lash primer, but threw that on and waited a couple of minutes before applying the lash lengthening mascara. It’s been a few weeks and I’ve worn the mascara daily. There is a bit of a difference in the length of my eyelashes. I will continue to use these two products as well until they are gone.

On to the lipstick. This is a product I am not a huge fan of. First, I am not a fan of pink. I prefer sheer colors when I do wear lipstick or lip gloss. Even the slightest amount of this was too pink for me. It also made my lips feel rather greasy and almost has a floral scent to it which you can ‘taste’ in your mouth when you mash your lips together to evenly distribute the lipstick. A little got on my face because of the shape of my lips, and it stained the skin, also causing a slight irritation.

My overall impression is favorable. I do not believe that I would purchase lipstick of this same product line due to the greasy feeling, staining of the skin and funky taste it puts in your mouth. Now, if the cream eye shadows were more cost effective, I would likely make a purchase. However, I do not believe that $14 for eye shadow is a deal, nor would I spend that amount on something I rarely wear. The high price of Mary Kay is the main reason I do not regularly purchase these items. It is simply not in the budget. Few of their products are less than $10 and some will still cause irritation and reaction on my skin. I appreciate the opportunity to try these products and give my honest opinion about them.

I guess the coupons forgot to make it into my box, but I am more than happy to have received these 2 full-size bottles of dish soap. I prefer the Vitamin E over the Aloe. Should have posted this the day I got the box!

Palmolive Soft Touch: My New Favorite Dish Soap!

I received my first VoxBox from Influenster several weeks ago. I received both the Aloe and Vitamin E bottles. I must say that I prefer the Vitamin E over the Aloe. The Aloe left my hands feeling a little less clean and not as soft. It also did not clean my dishes as well and I did have to mix it with a different brand to work as a degreaser. The Vitamin E left my hands feeling very refreshed and soft. It also cleaned my dishes well and left behind no film. It lasted longer in the sink too. With the Aloe, it lost its integrity about half way through. Perhaps this was formulated a little different, I am not sure. I will never buy Dawn again! I plan to try the Palmolive Cocoa Butter option in the very near future. Image
